Methodology

How the lists are built

Every list on this site answers one question: which exchanges and brokers accept new account holders who live in your country. This page explains what is checked, what the statuses mean and where the limits are.

What “accepts residents” means

Eligibility is confirmed by the provider’s official terms for the relevant legal entity, client category and product. A general service grant applies to the countries it covers, subject to actual exceptions; each country need not be named separately. The product’s availability and applicable terms are confirmed independently. Evidence includes provider terms, onboarding pages, help centres and legal documents.

The country in the catalog is the country of residence, not citizenship or interface language. However, a provider may impose additional conditions based on citizenship, tax status or physical location. A green status for a country of residence does not mean access for every resident: the terms of the specific product and servicing legal entity still apply. A citizenship restriction does not mean a ban on all residents of that country, and a request for a passport or additional documents does not itself mean rejection.

Some things are never taken as proof: a platform missing from a restricted-countries list, service to existing clients, a headquarters or currency listed in a registry, or a country filter on an aggregator site. When a provider works through regional entities, each entity and its terms are kept apart.

Each product is checked separately

Eligibility is recorded per product, not per brand. At crypto platforms, spot, margin, derivatives, options, Earn, staking, lending and borrowing are checked separately when included in the tracked offering. Confirmed eligibility for at least one of these products can qualify a platform for the crypto catalog; other products require their own checks. Forex and CFDs are separate from real stocks and ETFs, and a share CFD does not count as owning the share.

A provider that serves more than one market is checked for each market on its own evidence. Rules found for one product are not carried over to another. The currency market and the instrument type are different things. If a provider offers currency pairs through CFDs, their admission is shown under CFDs. “Currencies outside CFDs” covers separate OTC Forex or exchange-traded currency futures programmes; an unconfirmed status there does not by itself mean currency CFDs are prohibited. See the product evidence for the actual instruments and conditions. Currency CFDs are counted once, under CFDs. They provide exposure to the currency market through CFDs and do not create a second admission under “Currencies outside CFDs”. CFD admission alone does not confirm that currency pairs are offered: applicable product terms are required. Each provider is counted once in catalogue totals, regardless of its number of products.

What the statuses mean

The coloured strip on each catalog page has one mark per tracked platform. Its status for the selected country combines product decisions. Green means confirmed eligibility for at least one product, rather than all products. Check each product’s labels and sources for its access and conditions; grey means access is unconfirmed, not prohibited.

Accept residents
Confirmed by the provider's own terms for this country and product. Conditions can apply, and the material ones are shown.
Check before applying
No explicit restriction on this country was found in the terms, but opening an account is not confirmed. The provider's conditions need a look before applying.
Special accounts
Special accounts are separate access routes with substantial additional requirements, such as professional or qualified investor status, specific citizenship requirements or other conditions of the particular route. If only such a route is confirmed in the selected market, the platform should be listed separately and excluded from ordinary home-page picks. If an ordinary account is available and special requirements apply only to a particular product, they are shown for that product. The classification of individual platforms may need refinement: check the conditions in the product details. A minimum deposit amount, involvement of an intermediary, ordinary identity checks or a knowledge test do not by themselves make an account special.
Unavailable
The provider excludes new residents of this country for the product, or the service does not offer that product. A platform with no available tracked products appears in the coverage strip rather than the eligible list.
Access unconfirmed
There is no current country and product decision: reviewed sources may be inconclusive, incomplete or conflicting. This does not measure research completion. Unknown is neither a ban nor an approval.
Illustration with invented figures: 12 accept residents, 3 special accounts, 6: Check before applying, 8 unavailable and 40 with access unconfirmed.

For this reason the list for any country is incomplete: other platforms may also accept residents. Fewer than three matches is a valid result, and nothing is added to fill a block.

Checks have dates and are reviewed manually

Every confirmed result is tied to the date it was checked against the provider's terms and to links to the sources. The date is shown in the platform details next to “Checked”. A platform’s overall “Checked” date does not mean that every product, fee and rating was reviewed at the same time.

We retain the source observation and review dates. Conclusions do not expire automatically; we update them after a manual review of the applicable sources. The review date does not guarantee that a provider has made no subsequent changes.

Rechecks are run in batches rather than on a fixed calendar, so the date next to a result is the reliable signal. A failed attempt to read a source never refreshes the date.

Source score

The score from 0 to 100 summarises ratings that other publishers have already published: CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap for crypto exchanges; ForexBrokers.com, StockBrokers.com and BrokerChooser for brokers.

Each source rating is normalised to a 0–100 scale. Several regional reviews from one publisher are averaged first, then publishers are combined with equal weight and the result is rounded once. The number of publishers is shown with the score; the details show the original ratings and links to their sources. The score is calculated from saved values and may differ from publishers’ current ratings. The eligibility check date is not the rating update date.

Eligibility comes first. The score only orders platforms that already match the selected country, so a high score never makes up for missing eligibility, and it does not change who is listed.

It is an index of external ratings, not our own audit, a measure of safety or a probability of avoiding losses. Sources use different methods and regions, so comparisons mean most within one market. Platforms without enough published ratings are shown as not rated and sorted after the rated ones. Affiliate relationships and registry rank add no points.

Fees and costs

The fee shown for a platform is the headline figure from its published pricing, together with the scope it applies to, such as maker and taker fees, spread or commission per share. The figure is indicative: real costs depend on the account type and the quote, and some providers show rates only after sign-in.

A zero-commission offer does not cancel other costs such as spreads or currency conversion.

Source observation dates and cost review dates are shown separately when available. Links lead to official pricing; a date is not displayed beside every link. Costs that are not currently confirmed are marked separately.

Country detection

The country comes first from a manual choice, then from the choice saved earlier in this browser, and only then from an approximate country based on the IP address. If detection fails, the country can be chosen by hand.

An IP address gives an approximate country, not a precise location. A delayed detection result never replaces a choice that was made manually. The choice is saved in this browser.

What this site does not do

The lists are informational. They do not assess whether a product suits a particular person, and nothing here is personal investment advice.

Investing and trading involve risk. Crypto prices can be highly volatile, and leveraged CFDs can cause rapid losses. A CFD does not give ownership of the underlying asset.

Coverage is bounded by the sources: platforms come from public registries and reviews, and the list is not every exchange or broker in the world.

A listing is not an endorsement or a guarantee that an account will be opened. The provider makes the final decision after its own checks, and its current terms should be read before applying.

Editorial responsibility and corrections

The Trade by Country editorial team is responsible for preparing and publishing the materials on this site.

We use automation, including AI, to collect and organise data and prepare text and translations. We check eligibility conclusions against the applicable official terms; automated processing does not replace that check.

To report an error or suggest a clarification, contact [email protected].

Include the page URL, country of residence, provider and product, and explain the issue. Add a link to an official source if you have one. You do not need to send passport details, passwords or account information.

A report does not change a result by itself. We first check the source, the servicing legal entity and the scope of the terms. When revising a conclusion, we retain the earlier observations and review history; eligibility, costs and external ratings are assessed separately.
